Top Interior Design Trends of Custom Homes in 2018

Moving into a new place is exciting, and part of the excitement is starting all over with a new, vibrant interior design. There are many new design trends for 2018 to choose from. Here are a few of them:

Bold Colors
Make a statement with big, bold primary or secondary colors. Primary colors are yellow, red and blue, while secondary colors are green, orange and purple. There are also tints, shades, and tones of these colors.

Not only will bold colors be showing up in living rooms and bedrooms, they'll also stand out in kitchens and baths. Of course, if fire engine red or ultramarine are a bit too much for all the walls in the room, you can paint one wall that bodacious color and paint the rest complementary neutral colors. A white ceiling in a room full of color also keeps the decor from being too much.

Mixed Metallic
People who are wary of all-metal surfaces have the option of choosing metals mixed with another material such as ceramic or tempered glass. Metals such as copper and stainless steel are used for kitchen countertops, vanity tops, and backsplashes. People are even using wire mesh with waterproof linings for shower curtains, and metal tiles can be used to beautify an otherwise uninspiring wall in any room.

Light Open Spaces
Nothing beats natural light, and many homeowners are having windows added to their new custom homes to bring the sun in. Skylights and sun tubes are also becoming popular. Open plan rooms allow the light to bounce around the space unimpeded by walls, and strategically placed mirrors make a bright space look brighter and bigger.

Natural Materials
Synthetics do have their place. They tend to be less expensive and more durable than natural materials, but nothing tops natural materials for their beauty, colors, textures and even smells. Homeowners are now choosing natural hardwoods such as oak or maple or natural softwoods such as pine for floors and furniture, natural fabrics such as wool, cotton, linen, and leather for carpets and upholstery and natural stone such as granite, marble, slate, and soapstone for floors, walls, and countertops.

Wood Tiles
Wood tiles have been used as flooring for decades, but now homeowners are finding creative ways to use them around the house. They can be placed on the wall as wainscoting, placed on cabinet doors or tables and can even be used on the ceiling.

Hiring Movers Safes Time and Money
Before you move to a new home, you will need to find a way to take your stuff with you. Though some people hire their own truck and load it up with their belongings, hiring movers saves time and money, so hire movers to ease the transition to your new home. Professional movers know how to prepare even delicate objects so that they are not broken, dinged or otherwise damaged in the move, whether it is to a place down the street or to the other side of the planet. Remember to hire movers to ease the transition to your new home.
